A scoliosis-specific approach, taught one breath at a time.
Three-dimensional postural correction, breath retraining, and stabilization, the Schroth Method, delivered one-on-one in a quiet NoMad studio.
"I came in expecting a brace and a worry. I left with a plan and a breath that was actually mine."
Initial evaluation
A thorough first visit, conversation, postural assessment, curve classification, and your first correction. You'll leave with a written plan and a clear sense of what the course of care looks like.
- 60-minute visit, 30 min one-on-one
- Curve classification & home program
- Full evaluation paired with same-visit hands-on treatment
- Most patients feel pain relief by the end of the first visit

Frequently asked.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients complete a course of 8–12 sessions over two to three months, then check in periodically as needed. Adolescents in active growth may stay on a longer cadence; adults often graduate to a quarterly maintenance visit. We'll give you our honest recommendation at your evaluation.
Do I need imaging or a referral?
If you have recent X-rays (within the last 12 months), please bring them, they help us classify your curve. New York is a direct-access state, so a physician referral isn't required to start, though some insurance plans require one for coverage. We'll let you know during your benefits check.
Is Schroth a replacement for bracing or surgery?
It depends on your curve. For mild and moderate curves, Schroth is often used in place of bracing or alongside it. For severe curves where surgery has been recommended, Schroth complements, it doesn't replace, surgical care, and is particularly useful both before and after fusion to optimize outcomes.
How is this different from regular physical therapy?
Schroth is scoliosis-specific. The exercises, breath patterns, and corrections are designed for curved spines and would be ineffective, or counterproductive, for a straight spine. A general PT might address your back pain; a Schroth therapist addresses the curve that's causing it.
I'm 47. Is it too late?
It's not too late. While the dramatic Cobb-angle changes seen in adolescents are growth-dependent, adult Schroth patients consistently report meaningful improvements in pain, posture, breathing capacity, and quality of life. We have patients in their 60s and 70s practicing Schroth with great results.
Can my child do this without me in the room?
For teens, parents are welcome to sit in for the first evaluation and the home-program teaching session. After that, most adolescents prefer to work one-on-one with their therapist. We send a written and video summary home after each visit so you stay in the loop.
Can I use my insurance?
We're an out-of-network practice, payment is due at the time of service. We provide a detailed superbill after each visit that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement, and we accept HSA and FSA cards. Many of our patients are reimbursed at their plan's out-of-network rate; we recommend calling your insurer in advance to confirm.
Recovery, at your pace.
Sixty minutes. One therapist. A plan you can actually live with. The first visit is the longest one you'll have, after that, the work starts.
